| PRE-CR (Candidacy Report): Fixed meetings with Tim: Fortnightly beginning today, 30th April 2002. | |
| PRE-CR: Fixed meeting with Andrew Marriott, Tim McGrath and me next time in week 25 (17th - 21th June 2002). Depending on Andrew maybe one all together meeting before. Tim can come to Curtin University. | |
| Possible work for Tim: homepage, do dtd2xsd conversion for the book (that would need some time of my part to get ready), do a presentation at University in Fremantle | |
| use spell checker for meeting sheets. | |
| According to Tim, implementors of ebXML CPPA have to ask IBM (in writing) to get permission, licence. It is important to mention, that it is a open source implementation. | |
| The licence (claims on patents (Intellectual Property R...) is a RAND ( (a)reasonable and (b)non discriminatory) which means a) the cost of the licence must be reasonable in the market and must stand in front of law etc. Probably a symbolic cost of US dollar 0.01 will get charged. Maximum it would get up to US dollar 100.00 per year. If it would be possible for IBM to charge US dollar 100'000.00 Tim thought no, because it is not reasonable. b) non discriminatory means, that IBM will charge the SAME amount for each implementor. | |
| In case of implementing the CPPA (where a licence seems to be necessary) if there are some features added, those features could go under a other licence, eg. Mozilla, GPL like licence. | |
| The question if there is a possible legal contact for the openebxml project Tim suggested the newly created OASIS group called "Joint Coordinate Group" as the contact for us. UN/CEFACT is too high and IBM's Director for e-Business Standards Strategy Bob Sutor, is too high level as well. | |

| NOIE: Tim gets feedback of last meeting. NOIE or a AU agency might implement a Australian ebXML registry/repository. Implementation here means to install one and populate it with Australian CPP's, CPA's, Core Components, Business Processes etc. A possible add on this could this project which adds a "pilot" CPA creation utility. | |
| NOIE: We talked, that it would be nice to have an "interactive" interface for the user (company) to create a CPP or fill out a CPP, browse it etc. And maybe an interface to find a possible partner and then have an "interactive" interface. A possible interface for a possible negotiation could be useful. Tim will check on the status of the NOIE activities. | |
| Negotiation: draw line what to negotiate: a) CPA in the first place, b) CPA items second place and c) CPA content (eg. price value, delivery date) third place. | |
| Negotiation: It is a question of the level in the hierarchy. | |
| A possible deliverable could be: The Business Process (diagram, file) of the negotiation itself. | |
| Negotiation: A negotiation is basically at a business level. A company would not enter a deal without negotiation. Obviously some parts of the negotiation can be automated. A step would be to find out what parts these are.... | |
| Negotiation: Level of hierarchy .. business process .... ???? | |
